I never would have picked this book up if a. my book club hadn’t chosen it and b. another member literally brought me a copy to read. This book, however, ended up being a sociological study more than anything. Two reigning current economics leaders explored a myriad of seemingly strange occurences and made some sense (cents?) of them. They discovered ways money motivates and seems to make people lie, risk their lives, achieve and dream bigger. It was more of a hodge podge of dumbed down sociological research articles than anything, but interesting and helpful in many ways. If you like this kind of reading, or maybe miss reading light college research, then pick this up for a whirl around the economic merry go round. You’ll be reeling with info, but don’t forget to think about who funded the studies they popularized and why. For instance, one author suggested that a reduced rate in crime in a large city was because abortion was legalized in that time frame. Puke. Correlation does not lead to causation, and that’s that!
