Just finished reading this charming book for tweens and loved it for the genre! The name alone caught me, since mother daughter book clubs are such a cool, relatively new thing popping up all over, plus the girls and moms in the club discussed Little Women, my favorite book. There were awesome connections made, and lessons offered without being preachy. Very cute. I especially liked how Alcott’s life was woven in along with the four March girls and Marmie’s lives. Life in Concord, MA sounds very interesting with all of the history there as well. What a neat usage of setting. The argument over whether Jo should have married Laurie was still up in the air though; two versus two. I will break the tie. Jo and Laurie should have been together for sure! Their chemistry, fiery as it was, rivaled the best I’ve read (Jane Austen came close with Pride and Prejudice/Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth). However, this book is totally worth reading if you are looking for an amazing read (Little Women) and The Mother Daughter Book Club is a great read for easy, meaningful yet chill material.
